CELEBRATING ALAN SINGLETON

Our Founder and Leader Retires

A great team is built on great people and a great foundation. This week, nearly 200 people gathered in Jeffersonville, IN to celebrate the retirement of one of our founders and leaders, Alan Singleton.

Alan’s career began in the Farm Credit System after college where he would spend the next thirteen years. With the creation of the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corporation (Farmer Mac) in 1988, the concept of a secondary market for agriculture came into focus. That opportunity, together with a desire to create something on their own, brought the original AgFi group together. In 1989, Alan, along with Mark McCance and Don Mattern, made the bold decision to pursue a vision of better financing options for U.S. farmers and ranchers.

That idea grew into a company with a handful of employees working out of offices in the basements of their homes. Through the years, it continued to evolve and grow, and in 2001 became a part of CGB Enterprises, Inc. (the AgFi we know today). Now, 25 years later, with nearly 70 employees originating and servicing more than $2.4 billion in loans and leases, AgFi serves as a testament to the strong foundation Alan helped create and the culture of excellence he inspired.

Alan said it best when he shared, “From day one, we have been focused on agriculture and rural America.” He continues, “The reason that we have grown as we have is because we value relationships above all, and we want those relationships to last!”

As Alan enters this new, sweet season of life, our entire organization wishes to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you and congratulations.
